Discover history and heritage at Winkies Castle Folk Museum. Founded by local cobbler Jack Anderson in 1975 and bequeathed to Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council on his death in 2001.
It was proudly re-opened by his nephew Ian Anderson, President of the “Friends of Winkies Castle” on Yorkshire Day, 1st August 2005.
Winkies Castle is the smallest museum in the Teesside area with many unique hands-on artifacts from hundreds of years of Marske’s history.
The entrance hall features a time line panel that lists every significant local event back to the 4th Century Roman Signal Station on Huntcliffe.
Re-dressed period rooms and a fascinating audio-visual presentation informs visitors of Marskes history and the friendly and knowledgeable staff are happy to answer any questions on the area and its heritage.
No Car-Parking facilities on site.

11.30am to 4.30pm
Thursday, Saturday & Sunday from April to September.
